On June 19, 2023, Hamburg Ports and Logistics AG (HHLA) announced the signing of a definitive equity acquisition agreement with COSCO Shipping Ports Co., LTD. (CSPL) at the Tollerort "Good Land" container terminal (CTT) in the Port of Hamburg.

Under the agreement, COSCO Shipping Ports Co., Ltd. will acquire a 24.99% minority stake in the Tollerort "Fortune" container terminal in the Port of Hamburg. CTT Container Terminal will also be the preferred docking terminal for COSCO Shipping Group (COSCO) to handle cargo traffic between Asia and Europe. This cooperation reinforces Hamburg's position as an important domestic and international logistics hub, as well as Germany's position as an industrial power.

Since 2021, COSCO Shipping Port's investment in the Port of Hamburg has gone through twists and turns, and now it has finally been successfully stopped. To date, COSCO Shipping Ports has invested in 46 terminals in 37 ports around the world, operating a total of 367 berths.

German media have described the Port of Hamburg as the "last link" in the layout of COSCO shipping ports in Europe. In addition to the sea route, Hamburg is also an important node of the "Belt and Road" land transport between China and Europe. According to the official website of the Port of Hamburg, rail traffic between Hamburg and more than 25 destinations in China increased by 51% in 2021 compared to the previous year.
