Rise in price again!These routes are rising again, and the shipping companies are red eyed !
Recently, CMA CGM, Maersk, Hapag-Lloyd and other shipping companies have once again issued a notice of price adjustment on some routes. Following the announcement of the first increase in FAK rates for Asia-Europe, Australia and other routes by Maersk and CMA in early July, the latest announcement said that FAK rates will be raised again from August 15..
Cma CGM has again raised FAK rates on its Asia-Northern Europe route
At the beginning of July, CMA CGM officially announced a substantial increase in FAK sea freight rates on the Asia-Northern Europe route from August 1:
But just after pushing up the first wave on August 1, CMA CGM announced again: From August 15, the FAK sea freight rate of the Asia-Northern Europe route will be raised again:
Effective August 15, FAK rates for exports from all Asian ports (including Japan, Southeast Asia and Bangladesh) to Northern European ports (including the United Kingdom and the full route from Portugal to Finland/Estonia) will increase to US $1,150 per 20-foot dry container and US $2,100 per 40-foot dry container/cooler.
Compared with the Asia-Nordic FAK sea freight rate that just took effect on August 1, the newly announced FAK rate has increased by $75 per small container and $150 per large container!
Cma CGM imposes overweight surcharge on Asia - East Africa routes
Cma CGM has issued an official notice announcing that starting from August 1 (the loading date), dry cargo shipped from Northeast Asia, Southeast Asia, Mainland China, Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan to East Africa (except Mozambique), with a total container weight of more than 18 tons, will be charged $250 per 20-foot dry container.
It is understood that as early as July 24, CMA CGM said that from August 14, 2023 (loading date), the dry cargo from Northeast Asia, Southeast Asia, Mainland China, Hong Kong Special Administrative Region and Macao Special Administrative Region, Taiwan region of China to the Congo, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Angola and Gabon, the total container weight of more than 18 tons, $150 per 20-foot dry container.
Maersk raises FAK rates on Asia-Northern Europe route
At the beginning of last month, Maersk issued an official notice announcing that it would increase FAK rates on the Far East-Europe route from July 31.
Maersk said that from July 31, FAK rates for exports from major Asian ports to Rotterdam in the Netherlands, Gdansk in Poland and Felixstowe in the United Kingdom increased to $1,025 per 20 feet and $1,900 per 40 feet.
FAK rates for exports to the port of Aarhus in Denmark and the Port of Gothenburg in Sweden increased to $1,050 per 20 feet and $1,950 per 40 feet;
FAK rates for exports to the Port of Oslo, Norway were increased to $1,175 per 20 feet and $2,200 per 40 feet.
Following the increase in FAK rates from the Far East to Northern Europe, Maersk announced an increase in freight rates from Asia to the Mediterranean.
In addition to CMA frequently announced price increases, Hapag-Lloyd also caught a wave of "trends"!
Hapag-lloyd recently issued a notice announcing an increase in GRI/GRA for India, Sri Lanka, Pakistan and Bangladesh to the US East Coast from September 1, at $200 per box.
This fee applies to 20 - and 40-foot dry containers, reefers and special containers (including high cubic equipment).
Recently, MSC announced the adjustment of FAK rates for exports from Asia to Europe and North Africa from August 1, 2023.
MSC added that the rates include basic sea freight, subject to an additional GFS (Global Fuel surcharge) - VATOS US $138/276/276, effective August 2023;
At this stage, the main contradiction in the market is still the lack of significant increase in demand, and at the same time, the supply side of shipping capacity is facing continuous delivery of new ships, and shipping companies can only take the initiative to continue to reduce capacity and other measures to win more game chips.
In the future, there may be more other shipping companies to follow suit, and there will be more similar measures to increase route freight rates.
